recipe for a sunset by Janice Nigro Most days I am out on the beach around sunset for an evening walk, but also to marvel at the beauty of nature even in an urban environment as big as the Los Angeles area. Sunsets mark the end of another day, and it is a sort of... Continue Reading →
favorite subjects to photograph
favorite subjects to photograph by Janice Nigro Plenty of tongue-twisting words for underwater creatures exist. Somehow mine for most of my life was simply anemone. Even as I write this, spell correct just corrected the word anemone. For me, it remains a conscious effort to say or write this word correctly. Eventually I realized my... Continue Reading →
extreme close-up…
An extreme close-up of a large nudibranch called a nembrotha. The photo was taken in Panglao Island, Bohol along the fabulous Alona Beach. He/she (they are hermaphrodites) was moving around quite a bit for a nudibranch, but was still for a moment and I got this sort of excellent portrait showing all of his/her beautiful... high altitude van Gogh…
Patterns, I see patterns everywhere. But this one came out looking like a painting-the manicured fields as I was landing in Munich somehow look like brushstrokes over the land. Taken with an iPhone so the lower resolution probably enhances this effect. I love all of the shapes!
not the hop on hop off bus tour of Berlin
not the hop on hop off bus tour of Berlin by Janice Nigro When I went to check in online for LAX-Frankfurt-Berlin, seat numbers up to 94 were available in economy. Yikes, was I going to ride the A380 to Europe? Or was this extreme economy seating? It was the A380. When I saw the... Continue Reading →
silver medal
A little bit of bragging but more because of the company that my photograph is in. The other photographers win often and for good reason. I took this photo on the reef surrounding Panglao Island in Bohol, the Philippines. It was I have to say a photo of one of the most humble looking creatures under... Continue Reading →
marine layer filter
Nothing much happened today until about 19:00 when I saw these colors in the sky from my window. I ran with my camera just a bit late, but managed this sunset photo on the beach in LA. I really love these when the marine layer filters the sun so you can look directly at it... Continue Reading →
just two hours underwater
just two hours underwater by Janice Nigro I especially love the dive holidays where you can leave home in flip-flops and arrive at the dive destination in flip-flops (or slippahs where I went). Los Angeles to Maui is one version of the flip-flops only necessary dive holiday. I had a short trip ahead of me,... Continue Reading →
cathode ray tube
Actual sea urchin spines (Hawaiian) that look like a cathode ray tube or some sort of fancy futuristic light fixture.
los angeles-the B-movie
Spooky grainy sunset against the homes along the beach in Los Angeles. Sort of has a 1950s B-movie look to it!
